Hello everyone!

Thanks for stopping by to another DIY segment on my blog!

This is an exciting post because this is my first DIY furniture makeover. I refurbished an old coffee table and it turned out amazing! I wanted to share with you all how I took this coffee table from grungy to GLAM.

Check out how it looked before I gave it a much-needed makeover.

Here are the following steps I took for my coffee table project

First, let's start with our supplies:

I went to Lowes to pick up all the necessities to refurbish this coffee table. I bought paint, tape, and three different sized paint brushes.

I also needed sand paper but luckily my Mom supplied that for me (hehe, thanks Mom!)

Now here are the steps to crafting this coffee table:

1. Sanding

Sanding is an important first step to ensure you have a great finished product. Before I started sanding, I had to clean the table. It was dusty and grimy because it had been sitting in storage for a few years. After it was clean, I used patches of sand paper to smooth down all the rough areas on the table. Most of the cosmetic issues were due to the paint chipping away. Cleaning and sanding the table was essential to providing a smooth surface before applying the paint.

2. Painting

After I had the table all sanded down, it was ready to paint! I started with the white because it is the main color of the coffee table. I applied the first layer with my fattest brush since there was a lot of surface area to cover. Then once the first layer had completely dried, I added a second layer.

Next, I taped off the edges around the legs of the table. I did this because I didn't want to get any grey paint onto the white. Then once everything was taped off, I applied the grey paint to the legs of the table.

I used my smallest brush for the legs, it was important for me to take it slow and focus since this area is more detailed than the rest of the table. This also took two layers.

Finally, I took a close look over the table and used a tiny paint brush to clean up any spots where grey paint had splattered onto the white. I also went over any small areas I had missed.

And then... Perfecto! The finished project:

Here's the Before and After!

This was a fun project! I enjoyed taking a cute piece of furniture with potential and turning it into something I love for my living room.

I might have a new hobby (hehe)

Thanks for stopping by!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY furniture makeover.

xo,

Dani Kaye
